“Franchell Mack Brown is a multidisciplinary artist who integrates fiber and jewelry elements into her artwork, drawing inspiration from her expertise as a certified welder and her deep reflections on her own interior life and healing journey. Within her multimedia practice, she embraces meditative intuitive processes to craft visual narratives that illuminate pathways toward peace, balance, joy, and healing. From the pliancy of crocheted ribbon to the delicate intricacy of glass, the malleability of paper, and the sturdy foundation of welding, Brown juxtaposes softness with solidity, delving into the complexities of existence and the potential for healing within the ever-changing rhythms of life. Vibrant colors burst forth with energy, infusing each piece with palpable intensity that captivates the imagination.
The work featured in this exhibition marks the inaugural installment of her three-part series, “Rize of the Goddess Spirit,” which incorporates craft practice of glass fusing and flameworking that she discovered during her residency. In this series, Brown explores themes of transformation, memory, and the profound journey of healing. Each piece reflects her belief in the inherent potential of every individual to embrace the present, envision a brighter future, and actively shape a reality filled with possibility and creativity.
Dream Manual brings together the work of artists who express their ideas and visions through tactile experiences of shaping, molding, weaving and/or manipulating materials that bear the imprint of the artist’s hands. While they each engage in a diverse array of mediums, processes and materials, these artists share a visual language of patterns and a deep appreciation for the creative process, histories and the human imagination.”
